Ungano's Club
New York City, New York, U.S.A.
It appeared in the newspapers that George Harrison showed up
at a club called Ungano's for a Badfinger show. Ungano's was a really small room
in Manhattan's West 70's where I hung out on many a night. I hadn't been there the
night George showed up, but I damn well made it my business to be there the next
night. Badfinger was great...very loud, too. George did not show up, but the place
was jammed with people who hoped he would. I was a little disappointed that the group's
emphasis was on covers and some rock songs I had never heard, and not the album cuts
and hits I loved them for... I don't remember them playing a very long set...but
it was a great experience nevertheless.
