Youngstown, Ohio, U.S.A.

I was at the Badfinger show at Idora Park in Youngstown, Ohio on June 23, 1972. Though the ad and flyer mention an outdoor show, in fact the concert took place in the Idora Park Ballroom (which was said to be the largest facility of its kind between New York and Chicago). So maybe the weather turned bad or something. In any case, it was a great show... the band were really on that night, and Pete took the time on several occasions to point out what a great job drummer Rob Stawinski was doing. And indeed he was...though I grant that Mike Gibbins' ultra-detuned drums did impart a distinctive sound to many Badfinger records, Rob was just so solid and energetic... he really did propel the band in a way I don't think Mike ever did.

Funny that I don't recall McKendrie Spring being a part of this show, but then again I saw them so many times back in the day in Athens (when I was a student at Ohio University) and other nearby venues that it probably all just runs together. Or maybe I got there late!
