April 5, 1974 (Friday)
Auditorium Theatre
Chicago, Illinois, U.S.A.

In 1974, I saw Badfinger and The Grass Roots at the Auditorium Theatre in Chicago. Tommy had a case of Blatz beer sitting on top of his Peavey amp. Joey spit in the direction of Peter Ham more than once. Pete was wearing P.F. Flyers. He alternated between playing a Strat and a Les Paul, through his Moog guitar synthesizer on that goofy pedestal...

I attended the concert on April 5, 1974 in Chicago, Illinois. As I have subsequently discovered, this was the last American appearance of the band with Pete Ham. The concert took place at the Auditorium Theatre. I wrote down the songs as they were played. They played the following songs in the order listed:

Day After Day
Constitution
Baby Blue
I Don't Mind
Perfection
Timeless
Love Is Easy
Give It Up
Blind Owl
Suitcase
I Can't Take It
No Matter What
Feelin' Alright
Only You Know and I Know

The opening act that night was the Grassroots. Badfinger put on a great show. The last three songs were encores.

I was at the show at the Auditorium. My memories of the show were disappointment at the sparse attendance at the show. Their performance was fine despite having The Grass Roots as openers.

I was at Badfinger's show in Chicago at the Auditorium. The song I remember most was Blind Owl by Tommy. Also, Joey spitting in the air, just over the heads of his bandmates!
