April 5, 1974 (Friday)
Auditorium Theatre
Chicago, Illinois, U.S.A.
Badfinger returned to Chicago in April 1974, for what I now know was to be their last live show in the United States. I was out of state at the time, but my brother went to see them. I was very envious and remember his impressions that Joey was more to the fore and that he saw a lot of Pete’s footwork. Pete had an intense concentration on his guitar sounds and was producing a lot of different sounds. He mentioned “Give It Up” being terrific.
Michael Markus (November 2024)
In 1974, I saw Badfinger and The Grass Roots at the
Auditorium Theatre in Chicago. Tommy had a case of Blatz beer sitting on
top of his Peavey amp. Joey spit in the direction of Peter Ham more than
once. Pete was wearing P.F. Flyers. He alternated between playing a
Strat and a Les Paul, through his Moog guitar synthesizer on that goofy
pedestal...
