The Blue Note
Columbia, Missouri, U.S.A.

I saw Badfinger in July '79 at The Blue Note in Columbia, Missouri. My band played there a couple of times and we were trying to open for them. The owner blew us off and we went anyway (Huge FANS!!!)

I remember meeting Tom briefly and he was pissed because he would've loved a local "Garage Band" to warm 'em up... He was very kind to me even though I was flying on some wild trip that night. I had 'em sign my "No Dice" album and then lost it later that night.

They played all the hits and looked like they were having the time of their lives. The crowd was about 3/4 filled (college town during summer break) and the place was just going crazy for their extended jams (Randy California had played two nights before to the near exact crowd). They sensed it and kept jamming. Johnny B. Goode must've lasted 30 minutes.
