This
is a photo of a Badfinger poster that is from 1982 for the show I
saw. I was sure that the lineup included Tom Evans and Joey Molland, but
after reading Dan Matovina's book, realized that that wasn't correct. The
signatures are Joey Molland, Rob Hewlett, and Ted Turner.
My roommate kept shouting for them to play "No Matter What" and for a
couple of minutes it looked like they might, but they didn't. The other
guys didn't seem to be familiar with the chords. But they played a fair
amount of material from "Say No More" and I had a terrific time!
I remember the gig, Bogart's was a two-level nightclub we played often. If
the date was May 15, we were doing a 4-night stint then, 15th-18th before
heading off to Clovis, NM. We were playing the upstairs stage, and if I
recall, Badfinger used our stage equipment and sound system for their show
(probably their own guitars). I don't remember if that's how they were
traveling then, or if their equipment hadn't shown up, or what. We played
a couple of opening sets, and they finished off the night.
