Splinter
Apple Demos (1972)
Following Bill Elliott's vocal on John Lennon's song, God Save Us in 1971 with the Elastic Oz Band, Mal Evans attempted to get Splinter on Apple Records, but since the label was winding down, nothing happened until George Harrison decided to start his own label.

This is an Apple Custom Label acetate cut at 3 Savile Row in London. It's a two-sided stereo 12-inch disc which plays at 33-1/3 rpm.

Bob Purvis: "A chap called Les Tones [played electric guitar]. Les was a great guitarist and a lovely guy. I wrote the lick and played acoustic. By the time we did this, the Oz thing was over. It was before Lonely Man [for Little Malcolm]. I loved that version. We both sang lead the way we did it live. Me and Billy did a good live one. We would finish a gig with it. The song was written around the time I wrote Elly-May."

[Robert J. Purvis, Malcolm Evans] (3:36)
