Attitudes
are:
Paul Stallworth: bass, vocals
Danny "Kootch" Kortchmar: guitar, vocals
Jim Keltner: drums, percussion
David Foster: keyboards, vocals
Attitudes
played mostly R&B with classical & pop music influences from
band member & arranger David Foster. They appear (except Danny
Kortchmar) on George Harrison's final Apple LP from 1975, "Extra
Texture." Danny "Kootch" was well known for being the best friend of
James Taylor, and Jim Keltner had appeared on solo albums by George
Harrison, John Lennon and Ringo Starr.
Their signing resulted from the weekly jam sessions at the Record Plant
studio in L.A. Called the Jim Keltner Fan Club Hour, after a mischievous
liner note on the back cover sleeve of Harrison's Living In The
Material World LP, the jams attracted everyone from Mick
Jagger and John Lennon to support players like James Taylor/Carole King
guitarist Danny Kortchmar, soul-rooted bassist Paul Stallworth, and a
young, R&B-steeped Canadian keyboardist and singer named David
Foster. As a result of those jams, Kortchmar, Foster, Stallworth, and
Keltner wound up forming a band, Attitudes. Even though the music didn’t
seem up Harrison’s musical alley, he nonetheless signed the group to
Dark Horse as a favor to his close pal Jim Keltner, and released two
albums by them.

If We Want To [David Foster, Jim Keltner, Danny
Kortchmar, Paul Stallworth] (3:33)
This was released a little bit too late (even worse for
the U.K. release) to take advantage of the anticipation of summer
coming and the last day of school. The B-side is an instrumental
non-LP track. Sweet Summer Music reached the lower levels of
the U.S. charts (#94 on Billboard) and did nothing in the U.K. A
release date of 27 August 1976 (U.K.) is given in the booklet 'The New
Singles ' No. 638. The label on the A-side of the U.K. single lists
the year as 1972 instead of 1976.
On the Cash Box R&B top 100 chart, Sweet Summer Music spent 9
weeks on the chart and peaked
at #45 on October 9, 1976.

When Warner Brothers decided to give this single a second chance by
releasing it a year after A&M did, they gave it a much more
reasonable release date, however, it failed to chart the second time
around.
