A second collection of unearthed demos from the late Pete
Ham, and
far more interesting than our first look at these tapes (7 Park Avenue).
There are
beautiful tunes aplenty here that you'll be humming after this disc
spins down. Of
particular note are the catchy "Makes Me Feel Good" and a stunning demo
of the Badfinger classic "Midnight Caller".
Pete Ham was a gifted and talented songwriter and those talents come
shining through
in this package. Nothing here reeks of exploitation: the producers of
these sets
have obviously treated the Ham demos as a labor of love. Perhaps the
next step for
the producers would be getting some decent bands together to record some
of these
lost gems in full versions for a tribute album. Hint, hint?
